A Brief History of the State of the World

After the events of September 11th, 2001, the world as we know it began to collapse.  By 2008, Nations and religions claimed war against one another, and terror was the newest weapon of war.  Eastern culture and western culture were all that remained as established forms of civilization... everything else broke down into anarchy and disarray.

Soon, matters got so far out of hand that governments turned to "privatized" law-enforcement and military markets to bring law and order to the masses. Eventually, eastern and western civilization "merged" and established a virtual democracy, where everyone had a vote and a say in a new world order.

In an attempt to win back the trust of the new world democracy, a new form of judicial system was established.  Calling on a media organization known as JEM Corp, the enemies of the state were given an opportunity to fight for their freedom in a staged competition known as the Justice Trials, which was broadcast to every computer on Earth.

Life and Justice in a Virtual Democracy

The popularity of the program gained such momentum that the Sentient Automaton Police Division (SAPD) was established to hunt down and process "contenders" (terrorists, felons, revolutionaries, etc.) to pit against the Justiceers, colorful "super heroic" executioners who spilled the blood of the guilty for the entertainment of the masses.
